Once again, the team with the best idea will win €500,000 in capital to execute the winning plan. The prize money, provided by the Dutch Postcode Lottery, will be awarded at the PICNIC'08 event.

PICNIC Green Challenge 2007
AMSTERDAM, 29 September 2007 – The PICNIC Green Challenge 2007 has a winner. Jury Chairman Sir Richard Branson presented the inaugural €500,000 PICNIC Green Challenge award to Igor Kluin of the Netherlands. The jury deemed Qurrent, Kluin's idea for local energy networks that share alternative energy sources and optimise power usage, the greenest of 439 entries.

PICNIC'08 takes place in September in Amsterdam. PICNIC is Europe's top event for cross-media creativity and innovation. "During PICNIC, Amsterdam becomes the capital of the international creative industy," says Bas Verhart, co-founder of PICNIC and CEO of Media Republic.
